elcome to my homepage!
My name is Maria Emelianenko and I'm glad to see you here. If you are my current student or you're just looking for the information concerning any of my past or present classes, you may want to go directly to the teaching webpage and start from there. Otherwise stay tuned.
Since you stayed you need something else other than results of your last quiz, so probably I have to give you some personal information for starters. I'm originally from a small town Dubna near Moscow, Russia, one of the most beautiful places on earth and hometown of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research/JINR/. Not so long ago I've graduated from Moscow State University/MSU/ with MS in CS(see my cv for formal data), the greatest place to be and to study when you're young and curious in the ways of the world. If you're curious to know more about my life back there, you can ask me about it. If you're not satisfied until you've seen everything with your own eyes, you can have a look at the pictures of my family and friends here.
I'm presently enrolled as a graduate student at Math Department of Pennsylvania State University, as you might already noticed :) My affiliations include taking classes with Math and CS departments, improving my teaching skills by weekly meetings with undergraduate students(details here) and doing research, which is currently focused on numerical analysis and in particular on fast convergence schemes for Centroidal Voronoi diagrams (under quidance of Prof. Qiang Du). Not much about it here yet but I'm working on it.
Not to lead you to the sad conclusion about my personality, here are some of my hobbies and interests:
Hiking - Adirondack (guide), Asseategue Island (guide), Appalachian Mountains near State College(outdoor guide);
Movies - Carmike Theaters (online guide); Russian and European cinematography(no link yet)
Music - Classics: Chopin, Bach, Beethoven, Maler etc (no link),Pop/Rock: U2, Lionel Richie, Seal, BeeGees etc(BMG);
