I will post details of which questions they will be here tomorrow after I find out how far my colleague gets in today's class.

9/10/2023 Just a final reminder about the first test on Tuesday. It will be in the classroom at the usual time and will last one hour. As I stated in class the test will cover Sections 1.1-1.8 except for Section 1.6. There will be approximately 5 questions, each of a similar level of difficulty to a typical homework exercise. There will be absolutely no outside materials allowed --- no calculators, `formula sheets' or anything else. You will not need to bring any paper. Just bring something to write with AND A PICTURE ID (if you don't have an official GMU ID card then something like a driver's licence will be fine).

On Thursday, we will finish Chapter 1 and make a start on Chapter 2.

9/6/2023 In class yesterday we finished Section 1.8 and I will go through the exercises from Sections 1.5, 1.7 and 1.8 tomorrow.

9/1/2023 Yesterday we got as far as solving homogeneous problems in Section 1.5. Remember to hand in your hand-written solutions to Section 1.4 Exercises 14 and 18, and Section 1.5 Exercises 6 and 20 to me by start of class on Tuesday (see instructions below). Note that we didn't get quite as far as I had expected so you will have read ahead a little bit to answer the last of those questions. I am currently working on getting the course text available at the Fenwick library and will update here when it is.

8/30/2023 In class yesterday we almost finished Section 1.3 and will continue tomorrow. Those of you who bought the Global Edition of the book will need to get hold of the correct exercises from the `normal' 6th edition of the book as described by the bookstore. There should be copies in the Fenwick Library.

IMPORTANT: The first set of homework questions that will be collected and graded are due on Tuesday September 5th. These are Section 1.4 Exercises 14 and 18, and Section 1.5 Exercises 6 and 20. Your solutions must be hand-written and handed to me in person (ie NOT emailed or submitted to Blackboard) either at office hours on Tuesday or at the start of the class. You are not allowed to collaborate on these questions. Do not hand in any of the other homework questions even though you are still expected to do them.

8/28/2023 Just a reminder that TODAY is the last day to add to the course if you have not already done so. The last day to drop with a 100% tuition refund is Tuesday September 5th.

8/25/2023 In yesterday's class we finished Section 1.2. Please attempt all the homework exercises from these sections before Tuesday's class when I will go through some of them. They will not be collected or graded this week.

8/23/2023 In the first class we didn't get very far and introduced the augmented matrix form of a system of simultaneous linear equations. In the second class I hope to get as far as completing Section 1.2.
