9/15/2025 Here are some extra questions to practice on if you need them (they were produced by the MATH203 instructors this Spring). Note however that a few of the questions cover sections 1.8 and 1.9 that will not be on the first exam. There are plenty of extra questions and examples in the textbook as well.

9/15/2025 In class today we finished Section 1.8. Please read the rules carefully for the first test on Wednesday. Bring a physical picture ID and try to be on time!

9/10/2025 In class today finished Sections 1.5 and 1.7. Please have attempted the homework exercises by Monday's class.

IMPORTANT: The first set of exercises that will be collected and graded are due on Monday September 15th. These are Section 1.5 Exercises 50 and 52 and Section 1.7 Exercises 6 and 20. Your solutions must be hand-written and handed to me in person (ie NOT emailed or submitted to Canvas) at the start of the class (so don't be late!). You are not allowed to collaborate on these questions. Do not hand in any of the other homework questions even though you are still expected to do them.

Also the first test will be on Wednesday September 17th. It will be in the classroom at the usual time and will last one hour. As I stated in class the test will cover Sections 1.1-1.7 except for Section 1.6. There will be approximately 5 questions, each of a similar level of difficulty to a typical homework exercise. There will be absolutely no outside materials allowed --- no calculators, `formula sheets' or anything else. You will not need to bring any paper. Just bring something to write with AND A PICTURE ID (if you don't have an official physical GMU ID card then something like a driver's licence will be fine).

9/8/2025 We got as far as the bootom of page 47 in the textbook. On Wednesday I will go through the solutions for the homework exercises from Sections 1.3 and 1.4. I plan to collect a couple of the homework questions on Monday and then the first test is next Wednesday. More details to follow.

9/3/2025 In the third class we got to about the bottom of page 30. I plan to finish Sections 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5 on Monday.

In the second class we finished Section 1.2. Please have attempted all the homework exercises listed in the syllabus for Sections 1.1 and 1.2 by Wednesday's class (Monday is Labour Day). They will not be collected.

September 25th: I went through the syllabus and only got as far as the start of Example 1 in Section 1.1. On Wednesday I plan to get as far as the end of Section 1.2.
