MATH 110-002 - Finite Mathematics - Fall 2009

Announcements:

In class on Friday December 11, we finished Section 7.7.  You are responsible for homework assigned through Section 7.7.

Final Exam.  The Final Exam for this class will be given on Friday December 18, 10:30am-1:15pm in the same room where we have class.  The final exam is cumulative and calculators are allowed.  Questions on the final exam will be similar to homework problems, in-class examples and mid-term exam problems.

There will be no questions on the exam explicitly from Chapter 5 (Sets and Counting).  However you will be required to use the concepts from that chapter on the other exam problems.  There will be a couple of questions on the final exam from Sections 7.6 amd 7.7, since you have not been tested on these concepts before.  All sections from Chapter 6 and Chapter 7 (except for Section 6.8 which we did not cover) will potentially appear on the final exam.

Course Evaluations.  Please be sure to fill out the online course evaluation for this course.  You should have received an email telling you how to do this.  I take the evaluations seriously so I encourage you to take the time to make your comments.  Evaluations will stay open until Monday December 14.

Quiz 14.  Quiz 14 will be given at the end of class on Friday, December 11.  The quiz will take about 15 minutes and cover Sections 7.6.  The quiz questions will be similar to homework questions and in-class examples.

Final Exam Review Session.  There will be a review session for the final exam on Thursday December 17, from 11:30-12:20 in room 242, ST1.

Scoring of Exam 2. Confirming what I announced in class, Exam 2 will be counted out of a total of 72 points.  If you scored more than 72 points on the exam then your grade will be recorded as a number greater than 100.  For example if you scored 74 on the exam the score entered into the grade book will be 74/72 = 103%.

Exam 2.  Exam 2 will be given on Wednesday November 4 and will cover all of Chapter 6.  Exam questions will be similar to homework problems, quiz problems, and in-class examples.  Calculators are permitted for this exam.  The exam will take the full class period.

Exam 1.  Exam 1 will be given on Wednesday September 30 and will cover all of Chapter 5.  Exam questions will be similar to homework problems, quiz problems, and in-class examples.  Calculators are permitted for this exam.  The exam will take the full class period.

Uncollected Quizzes.  Quizzes taken on a Friday will be returned at the beginning of class the following Monday.  If you do not pick up your quiz at that time, it will be placed in an envelope outside my office door (room 261, Science and Technology I).
