Announcements:
Final Exam. Your final exam will be given on Wednesday, May 8, 1:30-4:15 in the same
room where we have class. The exam
will be similar in style to the midterm exams and the quizzes. Approximately 40% of the final exam will
be on material covered since Exam 3, that is, on Sections 9.1-9.3 and 10.1 and
10.2. The remaining 60% of the
final will cover material from the rest of the course. A calculator is NOT permitted for
the final, however you MAY bring 4 3x5 note cards with notes (both
sides).
The following sections will be covered on the final. If a section is not listed below then
there will be no problems explicitly
from that section. However it is
possible that a problem taken from another section will require skills covered
in one of the unlisted sections:
Sections 6.1-6.5, 7.1-7.4, 7.7, 8.1, 8.3-8.6, 9.1-9.3, 10.1-10.2.
I recommend that you start by reviewing Chapter 6 since it has been a
while since we have done anything like that, and there will definitely be
problems from that chapter on the final.
Then review Chapter 7, then finally Chapter 8 since you have studied
Chapter 8 most recently. Take
advantage of the fact that there are versions of each exam that you did not
take and this should give you a good source for practice problems.
There will be class Monday as usual, and I will have my usual office
hours that day. I am still waiting
to find out about oral reviews for the final.
Quiz 14. Quiz 14 will be given in your recitation this Thursday, May 2. The quiz will cover 9.3. A calculator is not permitted for this quiz.
