GEORGE MASON UNIVERSITY
DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICAL SCIENCES
COLLOQUIUM SEPTEMBER 30, 2011

Speaker: Bob Sachs, George Mason University

Title: Infusing the math curriculum with student inquiry

Abstract: I will present the framework for my current curriculum development project, which I hope will lead to an interesting discussion. Using Mathematica's Manipulate command and the existing, expanding set of Mathematica demonstrations, I intend to build environments for student exploration of interesting mathematics. Some of my initial experiments and topics in early development will be shown and/or described.

Time: Friday, September 30, 2011, 3:30-4:20 p.m.

Place: Science and Technology Building I, Room 242

Refreshments will be served before the talk at 3:00 p.m. in Room 222.
