Speaker: Prasad Senesi, Catholic University of America
Title: Lie algebras, loop algebras, and their representations
Abstract: We begin with a broad overview of and motivation for the representation theory of Lie algebras. We continue with a closer examination of several prominent classes of Lie algebras: the simple complex Lie algebras, the Kac-Moody Lie algebras, and the (twisted) loop algebras. We discuss some fundamental problems in the representation theory of these algebras, and conclude with an overview of the speaker's focus, including a geometric realization of some generalizations of the (affine) Kac-Moody algebras and some results concerning their representation theory.
