Speaker: Hao Wu, George Washington University
Title: Combinatorial Link Homologies

Abstract: In 1999, Khovanov constructed a link homology that categorifies the Jones polynomial. His work revitalized the study of link invariants. Since then, many link polynomials have been categorified by various link homologies. In this talk, I will review several link polynomials and the combinatorial homologies that categorify them. I will also talk about applications of these link homologies.

Time: Friday, October 8, 2010, 3:30-4:20 p.m.

Place: Science and Technology Building I, Room 242

Refreshments will be served before the talk at 3:00 p.m. in Room 222.
