Mathematics, BA & BS - Education

Bachelor of Arts - Concentration in Education

  • Students would take all courses required for the BA in Mathematics.
  • MATH 302, 315, 321, and 351.  No addtional MATH 300+ courses are required.
  • EDUC 422, 372, EDCI 372, 472, 490 and EDRD 419.

Note: EDUC 372 fulfills the Soc. Sci. Gen. Ed requirement and EDCI 490 (student teaching) fulfills the synthesis requirement.

Bachelor of Science - Concentration in Education

  • Students would take all courses required for the BS in Mathematics with a concentration in traditional mathematics with the exception of MATH 316.
  • MATH 125, 302, 321, 351 and one MATH 300+ elective.  No addtional MATH 300+ courses are required.
  • EDUC 372, 422, EDCI 372, 472, 490 and EDRD 419.

Note: EDUC 372 fulfills the Soc. Sci. Gen. Ed requirement and EDCI 490 (student teaching) fulfills the synthesis requirement.

    Students are advised to contact Kerri Marianos, CEHD Undergraduate Pre-Education Advisor, (kmariano@gmu.edu) to receive advising and information as early as Freshman year. Please note that any student interested in obtaining Virginia teacher licensure through the Concentration in Education must apply 2nd semester sophomore year to take the Education courses that lead to licensure.
